Abu Dhabi Motors celebrates 40 years of automotive excellence and innovation with year-long celebration
Abu Dhabi Motors is celebrating a major milestone this year: four decades of redefining automotive luxury, performance, and customer experience in the Emirate. What began in 1985 as a modest showroom and workshop in Umm Al Nar with just 24 employees, has grown into one of the most successful BMW Group importers in the Middle East - today employing over 750 people across twelve world-class facilities in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
History
Founded by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Butti Al Hamid, Abu Dhabi Motors has not only shaped the automotive landscape in the UAE, but also set new global standards in the luxury car market. Over the past 40 years, Abu Dhabi Motors has earned a reputation for innovation, service excellence, and an unwavering commitment to delivering the best of BMW, MINI, BMW ALPINA, BMW Motorrad and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The company is also the official retail partner for McLaren and Zero Motorcycles in Abu Dhabi.
From the very beginning, Abu Dhabi Motors has embraced growth through a long-term vision back by bold moves. By 1994, it had already expanded into Khalidiya with a dedicated BMW showroom and launched a body shop in the industrial hub of Musaffah. In 2004, it introduced BMW Motorrad to the market and opened a dedicated MINI and Motorrad showroom in the oasis city of Al Ain. In 2012, Abu Dhabi Motorsmade global headlines by opening the largest BMW Group retail facility in the world, located in Umm Al Nar, a true reflection of the company’s ambition and scale.
Achieving Excellence
Abu Dhabi Motors’ has achieved a plethora of achievements including regional and global awards for sales results, after sales and more. In 2024, it launched its first BMW Retail Next showroom in Khalidiya, a modern retail concept that blends design, technology, and personalised service.

Marking its official forty-year anniversary on May 25 2025, celebrations for this milestone will continue throughout the remainder of the year.
Abu Dhabi Motors has rolled out a season-long initiative called the Summer of Now, a series of exciting experiences and moments designed to bring the anniversary spirit to life for customers and families alike across all their showrooms. From immersive showroom experiences to family-friendly events, the celebration will turn every visit into part of the 40-year journey.

Remaining focused on excellence, Abu Dhabi Motors is gearing up for another major achievement with the upcoming launch of the largest BMW Retail Next showroom in the region, set to open in Umm Al Nar in 2026. This new facility will reflect the latest in global retail standards, offering immersive customer experiences and showcasing Abu Dhabi Motors’ commitment to staying ahead of the curve in automotive retail.
