Founded in 2006, the tournament was originally one of three European Tour events to be staged in the Arabian Peninsula, however due to growing popularity and demand, it is now is one of six. The event took place between the 21st to the 24th of January at Abu Dhabi Golf Club and attracted some of the world’s best talent.
For many years BMW Group has been linked with sporting ambition and achievements. Just like its premium-sector products, Abu Dhabi Motors sets high standards in its golfing activities, both as a tournament sponsor and as an avid supporter of the game.
As a prize for hitting an incredible hole-in-one on the 15th hole from 177 yards away with a nine-iron, the professional golfer Alexander Levy drove away in a stunning BMW M850i Gran Coupé in Sunset Orange.
Alexander has won five European Tour tournaments, becoming the first Frenchman to triumph more than once in the same season in 2014 and the youngest Frenchman to claim three titles in 2016. His latest title came in April 2018 in the Trophée Hassan II at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, Morocco.
Alexander commented on his achievement and said, "It's always cool to make it. I make a few hole-in-one and I didn't win anything, and today I just win an amazing car. It's a really good feeling. I think I will fit really well in this car. I'm pretty happy.”
"I'm really lucky. BMW do a lot of things for European Tour, so it's nice to say, and thank them because they do a lot of work for us, especially on a tough time like the last two years we have. So yeah, we have to thank BMW for what they did for us, and yeah, I'm really happy to have a new car at home."
